The Position

Parent & Child at the Heart

As Financial Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong compliance, and efficient finance operations across the business. You will oversee a broad range of accounting activities while contributing to continuous improvements through automation and data-driven insights.

This role is suited to someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, and hands-on, with the ability to work across multiple finance processes and collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation.

Based in Ålesund | Global Scope | Reporting to Finance Leadership

Agility, Speed & Execution

This is a fast-paced role requiring accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement. You will take part in core finance operations such as month-end close, consolidation, and reporting while identifying opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen controls.

Main Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Closing

  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and reconciliations.
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and audit readiness.
  • Manage depreciation and fixed asset accounting, including annual reconciliation.

Group Reporting & Consolidation

  • Support group financial consolidation and reporting.
  • Review subsidiary financial reports and upload them into consolidation systems.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy across group reporting processes.

Analysis & Insights

  • Perform variance analysis across AR, AP, inventory, and balance sheet accounts.
  • Investigate discrepancies and provide insights to Finance Management.
  • Support data-driven decision-making through reporting and analysis.

Operations & Compliance

  • Perform intercompany reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Issue and manage credit notes in line with company policies.
  • Provide backup support for foreign VAT compliance when required.

Process Improvement & Controls

  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
  • Contribute to strengthening internal controls and finance governance.
  • Support audits and ad hoc finance projects.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Oversee bookkeeping for a small subsidiary in the short term.
  • Support general accounting tasks and finance operations as needed.

Experience & Skills

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or similar.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in accounting or audit (preferred).
  • Strong Excel skills; knowledge of SQL is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (M3 is an advantage).
  • Understanding of financial processes, reporting, and consolidation.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
